THE PREDICTION

World number 17 Marin Cilic beat Jaume Munar in straight sets on Monday in a continuation of his strong form at the Canada Masters. The 33-year-old fell foul of an inspired Tommy Paul after victories over Borna Coric and Karen Khachanov but it was an excellent return to tour after cruelly contracting covid-19 on the eve of Wimbledon. Before that, Cilic has found some of his best tennis in recent years to produce a stunning run to the semi-finals on his weakest surface and he took that level into Queen’s to beat Emil Ruusuvuori in a well-contested first meeting. 23-year-old Ruusuvuori has been enjoying the form of his career in recent months, impressing at Queen’s before his loss to Cilic but also grabbing some excellent results over the likes of Hubert Hurkacz and Diego Schwartzman. The Finn beat J.J. Wolf in straight sets on Monday and he will fare a solid chance at the upset here. Back Cilic to win outright, or at least a set inside an accumulator.
