THE PREDICTION
24-year-old Marie Bouzkova recently broke the top 40 on tour for a first time after claiming her maiden WTA title on home soil at the Prague Open in July. The 24-year-old found some huge form this summer to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon, losing in three sets to eventual runner-up Ons Jabeur, but she is playing her first match since a second-round exit to Karolina Pliskova at the US Open early last month. Fellow Czech Tereza Martincova fares a reasonable chance at the upset here given Bouzkova’s break from the tour and her own recent form, with a run to the quarter-finals at the Ostrava Open two weeks ago seeing string wins over Jil Teichmann and Anette Kontaveit. This looks a good match to leave out of any accumulators but perhaps taking Martincova to earn at least a set is the sensible way to avoid picking a winner here.
