World number 69 Marie Bouzkova conceded just three games to Anastasia Gasanova on Sunday to continue her strong form this season. The 23-year-old had never won at Roland-Garros before this campaign but she has enjoyed some excellent results in recent months over the likes of Karolina Pliskova and Jessica Pegula and she finished runner-up to Sloane Stephens at the Guadalajara Open back in February. 31st seed Elise Mertens conceded just four games to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in a welcome return to form for the Belgian. The 26-year-old has so far struggled on clay this season but she reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open back in January before defeat to eventual runner-up Danielle Collins in keeping with her incredible reliability. Mertens has reached at least the third round in each of her last 17 Grand Slam appearances but this first meeting with Bouzkova is a serious threat to that run. Back the Belgian to win at least a set here in a suitably cautious move.
