World number 67 Magda Linette handed Moyuka Uchijama a second-set bagel in a comprehensive victory on Tuesday and she is the third seed here in a pretty weak draw at the Chennai Open. That means there is plenty of opportunity for any player to put together a run of form, with 19-year-old Oksana Selekhmeteva a reasonable candidate after recently reaching the quarter-finals of the Prague Open before defeat to the eventual champion Marie Bouzkova. 30-year-old Linette should have enough experience to win through this first meeting with the Russian, though, and recent results over the likes of Yulia Putintseva and Sorana Cirstea, as well as an impressive three-set defeat to Karolina Pliskova at the US Open, are reason enough to back her to win outright here.
