World number 65 Magda Linette stunned in-form Ons Jabeur at this stage of Roland-Garros last month before losing to eventual semi-finalist Martina Trevisan. The 30-year-old is at her best on clay but she impressed at the Eastbourne International last week with a three-set victory over grass-court specialist Alison Riske before a defeat by the same scoreline to Lesia Tsurenko. With consistency her main issue in recent weeks this looks a pretty tough opener against Mexican qualifier Fernanda Contreras. The 24-year-old is making her Wimbledon debut after qualifying well this week and she made the most of her Grand Slam debut last month at Roland-Garros with victory in the first round. Linette remains the clear favourite to come through but it would not be a surprise to see this go to three sets and taking Contreras to win at least a set could be the valuable move. The sensible pick remains Linette to win outright.
