THE PREDICTION
24-year-old Aleksandar Kovacevic will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 190th, breaking the top 200 for a first time, after backing-up his shock victory over Miomir Kecmanovic with a three-set result against Chun-hsin Tseng. The American only made it through to the main draw as a lucky loser form qualifying but he will now play the most important match of his career against fellow American Mackenzie McDonald for a first ever semi-final on tour. World number 82 McDonald also rode his luck this week, avoiding a round of 16 clash with Taylor Fritz after his compatriot pulled out of the draw to reach the quarter-finals without dropping a set. The 27-year-old should be able to edge through this first meeting with Kovacevic but the younger American has nothing to lose and a huge amount of momentum that will be a serious force to stop. Back McDonald to win at least a set inside an accumulator or Kovacevic to do the same outside of one.
