World number 16 Diego Schwartzman handed Marton Fucsovics a first-set bagel in their round of 16 clash on Wednesday before coping well when the Hungarian upped his level to win in straight sets. The 29-year-old came back from a set down to beat Karen Khachanov in the first round on Monday and his draw does not get any easier as he faces in-form future star Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals. 20-year-old Musetti is coming off one of the best ranking wins of his young career with a stunning straight-sets victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime on Wednesday. The Italian was possibly the better player on this surface coming into that match with the world number nine but it was impressive nonetheless. Musetti came into his own over the clay swing last season, reaching the round of 16 before a five set defeat to Novak Djokovic.
The Italian was the winner of the only previous meeting with Schwartzman in three sets at last season’s Mexican Open on a hardcourt and this should come as close again. Take the Argentine to win at least one set here, or for the match to go to a decider.
