The 23-year-old looks the fair favourite to claim a third WTA title after taking her first at last season’s Berlin Open and that will be some serious form to take into the US Open as an unseeded player. World number 36 Aliaksandra Sasnovich came back from a set down to beat in-form Alize Cornet on Saturday and she will be desperate to make it fourth-time lucky in a final as she seeks a first WTA title. The 28-year-old is at her best against the better players and she is well capable of coming back from a set down once again in what could be a thriller on Saturday. Samsonova has the winning streak and the recent title-winning form behind her to make taking her to win outright a reasonable risk but it would not be a surprise to see Sasnovich finally break her duck here.
