THE PREDICTION
In-form world number two Aryna Sabalenka is one of the clear title contenders at Indian Wells and she made a statement on Friday with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Evgeniya Rodina. The 24-year-old won her first two tournaments this season including her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open but Barbora Krejcikova ended her winning streak at 13 in the quarter-finals of the Dubai Masters two weeks ago. World number 95 Lesia Tsurenko produced a stunning upset on Friday, coming back from a set down to oust in-form Donna Vekic to back-up an excellent first round win over Lin Zhu. The 33-year-old will be well-backed as the underdog in this intriguing third round clash with Sabalenka, who may struggle to stay composed if the crowd take a political stance in their support. Tsurenko is playing tennis well above the level her ranking suggests she should be producing but Sabalenka should ultimately be too powerful here. The pair share an interesting 1-1 head-to-head record but back the Belarussian to come through in straight sets.
