World number 90 Lauren Davis reached the quarter-finals of Adelaide 2 at the start of the season but she has since struggled to impose herself on tour with just two further wins. The 28-year-old beat Jelena Ostapenko in their first meeting back in 2017 at the Auckland International on her way to winning her first and only WTA title there but Ostapenko has taken the most recent in two in comfortable fashion to lead 2-1 in their head-to-head. World number 13 Ostapenko could do with a break like this after taking a four-match losing streak into the Italian Open but she was in serious form earlier this season with a win at the Dubai Tennis Championships and a run to the semi-finals of the Qatar Open.
