THE PREDICTION
This will be a fascinating rematch between former world number one Karolina Pliskova and British wildcard Katie Boulter after the pair met at last week’s Eastbourne International, with Boulter taking the upset in three sets. 30-year-old Pliskova was runner-up here last season to Ash Barty in three sets but she has largely struggled with her form since the turn of the year after missing a good portion through injury. 25-year-old Boulter is arguably in the form of her career so far, especially on grass on which she has beaten the likes of Alison Riske, Caroline Garcia and Pliskova as well as taking eventual Eastbourne champion Petra Kvitova to three sets last week before defeat. Both of their previous meetings have gone to three sets and that could be an interesting alternative to picking a winner here with Boulter taking Aryna Sabalenka to three with the home crowd’s backing in her last outing on Centre Court at this stage of Wimbledon last season.
