THE PREDICTION
World number 26 Martina Trevisan had to come back from a set down on Tuesday to beat home hopeful Natalia Szabanin but she should be the better for it moving forwards. The Italian won her first WTA title back in May at the similarly sized Rabat Open in Morocco and she looks a decent outsider for a second title come the weekend as the second seed. World number 138 Kateryna Baindl qualified well over the weekend before also taking out Hungarian opposition in Timea Babos on Monday. The 28-year-old will be riding high after claiming a first tour-level win of the season and she beat Trevisan in their only previous meeting, on clay, at the Moscow River Cup back in 2018. However, Trevisan’s recent career-best run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros is strong enough form to suggest she can level this head-to-head record with an outright win.
