THE PREDICTION
This should be an entertaining clash between two heavyweights in the second round of Roland-Garros as former world number 15 Karolina Muchova and number three Maria Sakkari meet too early in the draw. 25-year-old Muchova claimed her fourth win since returning from a long injury lay-off in a straight-sets victory over Chloe Paquet on Sunday, whilst fourth seed Sakkari made short work of Clara Burel in similar fashion. 26-year-old Sakkari reached the semi-finals here last season before defeat to eventual champion Barbora Krejcikova and it is hard to see her losing to Muchova, still not up to full speed, over three sets. However, Muchova won their only previous meeting on clay in three sets at last season’s Madrid Open and the Czech’s two defeats so far this season have come in three. That makes the sensible pick here taking Sakkari to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners.
