THE PREDICTION
World number 23 Karen Khachanov beat Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets on Tuesday to back-up a strong run at Roland-Garros. The 26-year-old fell foul of Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 16 but a four-set victory over Cam Norrie was something of a surprise in the third round and the Russian enjoyed last season’s grass swing with a run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. World number 81 Kamil Majchrzak took out Dominik Koepfer in comprehensive fashion on Monday and the Pole also enjoyed the grass this time last season on the Challenger circuit. Majchrzak, also 26, looks to have successfully made the transition to a full-time tour life well over the past 12 months but he has lost both previous meetings with Khachanov in straight sets. Backing the Russian to win outright would be suitably cautious here, though, given that he has dropped sets in five of his last six matches.
