37-year-old veteran Kaia Kanepi beat Nuria Parrizas-Diaz on Sunday before losing in three sets to in-form Beatriz Haddad-Maia in the second round of the Eastbourne International. The former world number 15 reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open this season to finally complete the set, having now reached the last eight at all four majors. Kanepi is known as something of a giant-killer with huge results over the likes of Angelique Kerber, Aryna Sabalenka and Garbine Muguruza at Slams this season. World number 77 Diane Parry did a fair amount of giant-killing herself at Roland-Garros last month as she ousted the defending champion Barbora Krejcikova. The 19-year-old reached the third round before defeat to Sloane Stephens but this looks like an early exit on the Frenchwoman’s debut with Kanepi unlikely to be upset easily.
