This is an excellent opportunity for one of world number 97 Jule Niemeier and number 105 Xiyu Wang as both youngsters enjoy their Wimbledon debut on Monday. 22-year-old Niemeier appears to have the edge after beating Xiyu in three tight sets at a Challenger event earlier this season and it took Bad Homburg Open top seed Daria Kasatkina three sets to oust her last week on grass, with Belinda Bencic also needing three to beat her in Berlin. 21-year-old Xiyu Wang’s last tour-level win came at the Australian Open back in January and whilst she has found plenty of success on the ITF circuit this season it looks like Niemeier is a few steps ahead at present. Back the German to win outright but leave this tight first meeting out of an accumulator.
