World number 13 Emma Raducanu has put in two blistering performances at the Cincinnati Open to beat former world number ones Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka to the tune of just six conceded games. The 19-year-old is coming up to the anniversary of her miraculous run to the US Open title as a qualifier and she looks to have found some confidence just in time, with this run likely to soften the blow of losing 2000 ranking points in two weeks’ time. World number eight Jessica Pegula came back from a set down to beat Marta Kostyuk eventually comfortably and she will be the better for an early test in this first meeting with Raducanu. The Brit is clearly a world-beater when everything clicks into gear and this match could just as easily fall in two comprehensive sets as it could end a three-set thriller, the latter of which would suit one of the best battlers on tour in Pegula. The longer this match goes on, the better chance Pegula has, but this is a head-scratcher well worth leaving out of an accumulator. Back Pegula to win at least a set as the just-about likelier to find a way through here but three sets could be the shrewd move.
