World number 43 Jenson Brooksby announced himself on the world stage here last season with a huge run to the round of 16, where he took a set from Novak Djokovic before defeat in four. The 21-year-old stunned Taylor Fritz and Aslan Karatsev in some of the best matches here last season and he will attract a large crowd off the back of those performances. World number 88 Dusan Lajovic is better than his current ranking suggests but the Serb brings a poor 10-21 record into the US Open in a continuation from his poor form last season and he has failed to make it past the second round in any of his last six Grand Slam campaigns. Brooksby has been caught out a little more often this season than he would have expected but the confident youngster can utilise the home crowd to come through outright here.
