The 25-year-old claimed the fifth WTA title of her career back in February at the Dunai Tennis Championships, where she became one of only five people to beat Iga Swiatek this season, and she has been in searing form for large parts of the year so far. World number 52 Anhelina Kalinina found the form of her career this season too with a huge clay-court swing over the Spring. However, the Ukrainian has since struggled to transition that level away from her favoured surface, her best run on grass ended by Ostapenko in the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne International, and she takes a three-match losing streak in to the first round in Toronto. Ostapenko may be a little match rusty here and that makes taking her to win at least a set the suitably cautious pick for an accumulator, although the Latvian should be coming through here.
