World number 63 Jaume Munar overcame fellow Spaniard Bernabe Zapata Miralles in three set on Tuesday for a first tour-level win since late June at Wimbledon. The 25-year-old has been impressive in parts of this season but there is the potential in his game for more and often his best displays have come in defeats. This is no gimme in a first meeting with world number 190 Alexander Ritschard, who only recently troubled Stefanos Tsitsipas over four sets at Wimbledon. The Swiss beat Joao Sousa in straight sets on Monday and he will be backed by however many of the Gstaad home crowd turn up for this very early start time. The lack of a crowd could affect the quality here but three sets seem likelier than two with Ritschard in good form. Back Munar to win outright, tentatively, or to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
