THE PREDICTION

Former world number two Petra Kvitova won the 29th WTA title of her career at the Eastbourne International with a complete display over impressive defending champion Jelena Ostapenko. The 32-year-old is a two-time Wimbledon champion from 2011 and 2014 and after a frustrating year or so on tour her exploits in Eastbourne are a welcome return for a vastly popular player. Kvitova also won back-to-back Birmingham Classic titles on grass in 2017 and 2018 and it will be fascinating to see how she pushed on at Wimbledon, with Eastbourne historically a key factor in deep runs.

World number 73 Jasmine Paolini is coming in to a seriously tough draw with no grass-court matches in her legs, with her last match coming in a three-set defeat to Irina-Camelia Begu at Roland-Garros a month ago. The Italian is a hard-grafter but two straight-set defeats to Kvitova make a fairly convincing head-to-head record here. Back the two-time champion to win in two.
