JAMES DUCKWORTH VS GIOVANNI MPETSHI PERRICARD PREDICTION

32-year-old Australian James Duckworth had to come through two rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw as he meets the giant Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on court one. Duckworth beat Mika Brunold and then Sumit Nagal in straight sets and he would have expected to have beaten the pair.

He fired down ten aces in each of those matches and he will need to be on point with his serve once again as he faces the powerhouse Mpetshi Perricard.

The 203cm-tall Frenchman Mpetshi Perricard has been eliminated in his opening match in the last three events and he would be forgiven if his confidence was a little low. The 21-year-old is however more than capable on his day especially with his ridiculously powerful serve which he will rely heavily on here.

So much depends on how quickly his opponents get to grips with his serve or whether they are capable of doing so. At the highest level, players are finding ways to beat him but his serve remains a major weapon against lesser opponents. Duckworth has a decent serve himself and that all points towards a long drawn-out match here. We fully expect at least one of the sets going to a tiebreak and consider over 22.5 games in this one with confidence. Otherwise, our marginal preference is for Duckworth to eventually figure out the big serve and generate enough break points to eventually get the win.

JAMES DUCKWORTH VS GIOVANNI MPETSHI PERRICARD TIP: OVER 22.5 GAMES
