World number 45 Irina-Camelia Begu got off to a tricky start against Marina Bassols Ribera on Monday, requiring three sets to beat the qualifier. The 31-year-old should be the better for it here, though, against world number 77 Oceane Dodin, who beat qualifier Matilde Paoletti in straight sets on Monday. Begu was the winner of their only previous meeting, coming back from a set down to beat the Frenchwoman in three in the first round of the Australian Open back in January, and there is little to suggest a different outcome here.
