World number 19 Alex de Minaur won the seventh and most prestigious title of his career to date in March with a searing campaign at the Mexican Open but he has lost six of his last nine matches since to suggest an upset is on the cards. The 24-year-old spent much of his formative years on Spanish clay and he has all the attributes to excel on the surface one day, although none of his titles have been won on it. World number 73 Ilya Ivashka is enduring a tough season overall but three of his six wins this season have come on clay and he reached the quarter-finals of the Geneva Open this week before defeat to Taylor Fritz. De Minaur beat the Belarusian in three sets en-route to the Atlanta title last season but this looks set to be an even closer battle.
