THE PREDICTION

World number one Iga Swiatek burst onto the scene here in 2020 with a stunning run to the Roland-Garros title without dropping a set as a teenager. Now just 20 years old, Swiatek successfully defended a title for the first time with victory over in-form Ons Jabeur at the Italian Open last week – one of now four Masters titles she has won this season. Furthermore, the Pole is riding a stupendous 28-match winning streak including the Qatar Masters, Indian Wells, Miami Open, Italian Open and the WTA 500 Stuttgart Open. Swiatek has dropped a set in just five of those 28 matches.

Former world number 12 Lesia Tsurenko qualified well this week at her current world ranking of 119th but she has drawn the shortest straw at Roland-Garros by some margin. The 32-year-old won her first WTA title on clay at the Istanbul Open back in 2015 but a round of 16 exit there last time out is little form to face the tournament favourite for a first time. Back Swiatek to win in straight sets.
