World number one Iga Swiatek is yet to drop a set this week at the Ostrava Open after two solid performances against Ajla Tomljanovic and Caty McNally. The 21-year-old is riding a nine-match winning streak now after claiming the third Grand Slam title of her career last month at the US Open – her first WTA title from her total of 10 won in the ‘second-half’ of a calendar year. With that particular stat off of her back, the Pole looks the clear favourite to end 2022 as the WTA Finals champion for the first time and she will be eager to maintain this current streak as much as possible. 27-year-old Ekaterina Alexandrova is set to break the top 20 on tour for the first time after reaching the semi-finals in Ostrava; taking out Victoria Azarenka, Daria Kasatkina and most recently Tereza Martincova to do so. The Russian is in excellent form herself, also riding a winning streak after winning the Korea Open last weekend, but Swiatek is a level above the competition this year. Back the Pole to win outright, probably in two.
