THE PREDICTION

World number 11 Hubert Hurkacz received a bye to the round of 16 as the top seed in Marseille and the Pole won a similar tournament in Metz back in 2021, one of five ATP titles so far. The 26-year-old reached the round of 16 at the Australian Open last month before a five-set defeat to Sebastian Korda but it still feels like we have not seen the best of him since last summer’s brilliant trophy-winning campaign at Halle. 21-year-old Leandro Riedi will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 121st after shocking Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets on Tuesday. The Swiss has found some impressive form in recent months to reach the final in each of his last three Challenger events, winning two of them, and it will be fascinating to see how he reacts after claiming his first tour-level win. Hurkacz should be blasting through in straight sets here but the Pole is difficult to read right now and sometimes prone to slow starts. Back him to win outright or consider a one-off on Riedi to snatch at least a set here.
