This could be a proper thriller on Friday between two of the better grass-court players on tour. World number nine Felix Auger-Aliassime reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last season with a shock win over Alexander Zverev before defeat to eventual runner-up Matteo Berrettini and he also finished runner-up to Marin Cilic at last season’s Stuttgart Open. World number 12 Hubert Hurkacz went one further at Wimbledon, beating Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev before losing to Berrettini in the semi-finals. The 25-year-old beat the Halle defending champion Ugo Humbert in straight sets on Wednesday for a statement of intent whilst Auger-Aliassime has navigated past Marcos Giron and Mackenzie McDonald so far.
21-year-old Auger-Aliassime leads this head-to-head record 2-0 having most recently beaten Hurkacz in the first round at this very tournament last season but the Pole should not be counted out in this really tight clash.
