This should be a vastly entertaining battle between two of the most improved players over the last 12 months – 18-year-old Holger Rune at the beginning of a very promising career and 26-year-old Botic van de Zandschulp blossoming after years of hard work on the Challenger circuit. Both players are through to their first ATP tour final and both are set to reach new heights in the ATP world rankings, with Rune set to break the top 50 for a first time and Van de Zandschulp the top 30. Danish prodigy Rune is yet to drop a set this week with impressive results over home hopefuls Oscar Otte and the top seed Alexander Zverev but Van de Zandschulp’s comeback victory over tournament favourites Miomir Kecmanovic backed up a huge result over Casper Ruud in the quarter-final and he looks the man to beat in this first meeting. This match will be about confidence and the application of it. Rune has no shortage of the stuff and is likely to take at least a set, probably the first one, but the Netherlands’ new star Botic van de Zandschulp looks capable of coming back to win.
