THE PREDICTION
Umag Open third seed Holger Rune will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 26th next week despite taking a six-match losing streak into the round of 16. The 19-year-old won his maiden ATP title this season at the Munich Open and he took that searing form into a stunning run to the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros and a four-set defeat to eventual runner-up Casper Ruud. Rune beat Denis Shapovalov and Stefanos Tsitsipas en-route to the last eight there but his exertions seem to have taken a toll on his confidence since, with this second meeting with Bernabe Zapata Miralles likely to come a lot closer than their first. The Dane handed the Spaniard two bagels in a hammering at the Metz Open last season but Zapata Miralles has enjoyed his best year on tour in 2022, with a huge run to the round of 16 at Roland-Garros seeing wins over John Isner and Taylor Fritz.
