20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti overcame David Goffin in five thrilling sets on Tuesday to make a serious statement at the US Open. After over a year of doldrums since losing from two sets up to Novak Djokovic in the round of 16 at Roland-Garros last season, the Italian claimed his maiden ATP title at the Hamburg Open last month against Carlos Alcaraz and he has looked a changed man since. 26-year-old Gijs Brouwer grabbed one of the results of his career on Tuesday, beating Winston-Salem champion Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. The Dutchman could break the top 150 for the first time no matter the outcome of this match but a confident Musetti should be too much a force to stop. Back Musetti to win outright, though, with sets likely to go both ways.
