World number 49 Filip Krajinovic is at his best on the clay but a straight-sets defeat to Thiago Monteiro at the Serbia Open earlier this month is well below par for the 30-year-old. The Serb pulled out of the Munich Open last week and that makes this match well worth leaving out of an accumulator in case he cannot take part once again but this match looks like John Isner’s to lose anyway. The 37-year-old big-server reached the final of the Houston Open earlier this month on clay and the high altitude conditions in Madrid will favour his powerful game against an out-of-sorts Krajinovic. The pair have shared two three-set matches on tour but the most recent was a straight-sets victory at Roland-Garros last season for Isner and he can be backed to win outright here, if not in two.
