25-year-old Frances Tiafoe set a career-high ATP world ranking of 11th last month after claiming the second ATP title of his career, and a first on clay, at the Houston Open. The American changed the course of his career last September with a remarkable run to the semi-finals of the US Open, where he came closer than anyone to ousting eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in a five-set thriller, and whilst his best tennis comes on a hardcourt he is a serious threat on all surfaces. Tiafoe has struggled here in Paris, though, winning just one of his eight matches so far at Roland-Garros after ousting Benjamin Bonzi in the first round last summer. World number 92 Filip Krajinovic leads Tiafoe 2-1 in their head-to-head having won both of their meetings on clay here in 2019 and at the Italian Open last season. However, the Serb is enduring some of the worst form on tour right now with a nine-match losing streak suggesting Tiafoe can have this wrapped up in three. The sensible concession for an accumulator, though, would be an outright win for the American given their record in conditions that should suit Krajinovic best.
