32-year-old Dan Evans put in one of the best runs of his career this week to reach the semi-finals of the Canada Masters before a three-set defeat to Pablo Carreno Busta. The Brit started the season on fire at the ATP Cup before wilting away significantly over the spring and summer but his results picked up in Washington last week to count four top 40 players beaten in his last eight. Evans started his campaign in Montreal with a topsy-turvy three-set victory over Filip Krajinovic, whose last victory came almost a month ago at the Hamburg Open. The world number 47 found some surprise form of his own at Queen’s back in June, reaching the final before defeat to Matteo Berrettini, but he has lost three of his last five matches since.
