Former world number two Barbora Krejcikova has endured a tough season in the singles this year, winning more than two matches in only her first two tournaments back in January as she finished runner-up to Paula Badosa at the Sydney Tennis Classic and in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. World number 200 Fernanda Contreras won her Grand Slam debut at Roland-Garros this summer to set a career-high WTA world ranking of 157th but she has fallen back to 200 on the eve of her US Open debut. The Mexican should fare better next season on her favoured clay but this looks a kind opener for Barbora Krejcikova, who desperately needed one. Back the Czech to win in straight sets.
