THE PREDICTION

Firenze Open top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime survived an early scare on Thursday with a three-set victory over Oscar Otte. The world number 13 has been a tough player to pin down practically all season long but his erratic form has reached new heights in recent months, with victories over the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic as good as defeats to Jack Draper and Soonwoo Kwon have been poor. 21-year-old Brandon Nakashima will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 43rd as his excellent form continues on tour. The American claimed a maiden ATP title on home soil at the San Diego Open last month and he is yet to drop a set at the Firenze Open to suggest an upset is on the cards in this first meeting with Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian has bigger weapons in almost every department but there does seem to be some kind of mentality block causing him to fluctuate at this moment in time. Back Nakashima to earn at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance.
