World number 73 Federico Coria put in a great shift to beat former world number 19 Cristian Garin in straight sets on Monday. The 30-year-old has been in decent form over the last few weeks on clay, taking Andrey Rublev all the way to a third-set tiebreak at the Bastad Open before defeat in the round of 16. World number 49 Pedro Martinez beat a resurgent Nicolas Jarry in straight sets on Tuesday for an impressive result too and he has enjoyed the better season on clay. The Spaniard claimed his first ATP title at the Chile Open back in February and he will be eager to build on that here after finishing runner-up to Casper Ruud in Kitzbuhel last season. Coria’s win over Garin must not be underestimated but Garin has been intermittent all season long. Three sets seem likely here but taking Martinez to win outright looks a reasonable enough risk.
