World number 52 Emil Ruusuvuori has improved significantly this season into a solid player well capable of winning a maiden ATP title at this level. The 23-year-old conceded just five games to Joao Sousa on Tuesday to get his Stockholm Open campaign underway but he has failed to win back-to-back matches since a run to this stage of the Citi Open back in August, where he stunned Hubert Hurkacz. World number 77 Jiri Lehecka provided an upset of his own on Wednesday to oust an ailing Grigor Dimitrov in three sets. The 20-year-old is a rising star of Czech tennis but after a more convincing start to the season his victory over Dimitrov snapped a fairly concerning five-match losing streak. Lehecka will be the better for some boosted confidence but Ruusuvuori beat him in straight sets in similar conditions earlier this season and the Finn can be backed to reach the quarter-finals here.
