This will be a fascinating rematch between world number 44 Emil Ruusuvuori and number 10 Hubert Hurkacz after the former stunned the Pole in straight sets at this stage of last week’s Washington Open. 25-year-old Hurkacz has now lost back-to-back matches on tour since a hugely impressive victory over Daniil Medvedev at the Halle Open back in June, although a five-set defeat by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at Wimbledon was no great embarrassment. 23-year-old Ruusuvuori overcame Stan Wawrinka in three sets on Monday to get his Canada Masters campaign underway and the Finn looks to be improving rapidly over the last few months. Given his result last week it is hard to side against Ruusuvuori even though Hurkacz should be better this time around. Back the Finn to win at least a set here but it might be best to leave this tight one alone.
