THE PREDICTION
Whilst world number 14 Alexander Zverev still needs plenty of matches to get back up to his best level the German’s impressive return from injury continued on Friday with a comfortable victory over Pedro Cachin. The former world number two reached the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships before a tight straight-sets defeat to defending champion Andrey Rublev but wins over the likes of Jiri Lehecka and Lorenzo Sonego were encouraging. This is a really interesting clash, though, as world number 59 Emil Ruusuvuori comes off an excellent upset over Roberto Bautista Agut on Friday. The Finn’s career-best ranking win was an upset over Zverev almost exactly two years ago at the Miami Open and memories of that day, which essentially brought him into the tour spotlight for the first time, should boost his confidence. Zverev would be expected to come through in straight sets at the peak of his powers but consider taking Ruusuvuori to earn at least a set here to leave the victor up to chance.
