Libema Open third seed Elena Rybakina beat Jamie Loeb in straight sets on Tuesday to get a promising campaign underway. The world number 21 has a powerful game well-suited to grass and she enjoyed some excellent results this time last season with a run to the semi-finals of the Eastbourne International and the round of 16 at Wimbledon. 22-year-old Rybakina beat Shelby Rogers twice on grass last season, at the Berlin Open and in Eastbourne, and she made it 3-1 in their head-to-head earlier this year in three sets at Adelaide 1 on her way to the final.
