By normal service Elena Rybakina should be ranked well inside the top 10 of the WTA after winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last month but the Kazakh is currently ranked at 27th and a very dangerous unseeded player here in Toronto. The 23-year-old took the first set against Daraia Kasatkina at the Silicon Valley Classic last week before defeat but that does not look so much of a shock since Kasatkina lifted the title on Sunday and Rybakina will be the better for a wake-up call moving forwards. Still, world number 47 Marie Bouzkova enjoyed a huge run to a first quarter-final at a major last month at Wimbledon and she took that form straight into a maiden title won at the Prague Open. Both players are enjoying the season of their respective careers and this could come very close indeed if Rybakina is not yet back up to speed following her life-changing exploits in London. For this reason, back Bouzkova to win at least a set despite trailing 2-0 in their head-to-head record.
