22-year-old Elena Rybakina set a career-high WTA world ranking of 12th earlier this season and she should be able to break the top 10 sooner rather than later after overcoming a mini blip of form son after. The current world number 17 beat Elina Avanesyan in straight sets on Tuesday to continue some solid form on the clay, with a run to the round of 16 at the Madrid Open last week stopped by in-form eventual semi-finalist Jil Teichmann. World number 102 Lauren Davis provided one of the shocks of the first round when she stunned an out-of-sorts Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets. The 28-year-old has struggled to impose herself on tour for some time but this could give her the confidence she needs to get back inside the top 100 as a player capable of top 50 tennis on her day. This is a tough draw though against Rybakina, who rarely has an off day. Back the Kazakh to win outright, with Davis’ defeat of Ostapenko making straight-sets look risky.
