World number 26 Elena Rybakina should rightfully be ranked well inside the top 10 on tour after winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon this summer, where ranking points were controversially denied. The 23-year-old recently reached the semi-finals of the Ostrava Open before losing to eventual champion Barbora Krejcikova from a set up but wins over the likes of Madison Keys and Petra Kvitova suggest she is the slight favourite against an out-of-sorts Karolina Pliskova. 30-year-old Pliskova has lost three of her last five matches since an excellent run to the quarter-finals of the US Open last month, with the Czech often prone to fluctuations in form after deep runs. The former world number one is usually a force to be reckoned with at Masters level, though, with a run to the semi-finals in Toronto back in August and five finals reached at this level over the past four seasons. Rybakina won their only previous meeting in straight sets and in many ways she possesses a very similar game to the big-serving Czech. Back the Kazakh to edge this outright or take at least a set inside an accumulator.
