THE PREDICTION
Former world number six Gael Monfils moved back inside the top 50 this week after another excellent run to the round of 16 at Indian Wells, stunning Hubert Hurkacz in three sets in the second round and coming back from set down to Cam Norrie in the third before a tight exit to Casper Ruud. The 37-year-old will be backed to the hilt here as an ever-popular showman on tour and he has tended to enjoy the conditions across the Sunshine Double, with three quarter-finals reached at Indian Wells and Miami during his long career.
World number 52 Dusan Lajovic has enjoyed a few eye-catching results this season, winning in the first round in each of his last four tournaments, but this looks a steep challenge in these conditions. The 33-year-old will be eagerly awaiting a return to his favoured clay next month but he is always capable of the occasional upset on tour with a high, if intermittent, ceiling. Monfils has won both of their previous encounters in straight sets but the sensible concession is an outright win here.
TIP: GAEL MONFILS TO WIN
