THE PREDICTION
World number four Daniil Medvedev beat Cam Norrie in straight sets on Monday to maintain an impressive defence of his Miami Open title so far, backing-up a solid opener over Marton Fucsovics. The 28-year-old beat Jannik Sinner in the final here this time last season but the tables have turned significantly in their head-to-head, with the Italian coming back form two sets down to win the Australian Open at Medvedev’s expense in January.
World number 50 Dominik Koepfer came back from a set down to upset 14th seed Ugo Humbert on Monday, claiming his biggest ranking win since 2021, where he beat then world number 11 Felix Auger-Aliassime before a tight exit to Hubert Hurkacz at this stage of the Paris Masters. The German has twice lost to Medvedev in a fairly convincing 0-2 head-to-head, both occasions at the US Open including in Medvedev’s title-winning year three years ago, but this could be their closest battle yet if the German can maintain his level. What is likelier, though, is that Koepfer has done Medvedev a huge favour by ousting a real bogey player of his in Humbert, to aid his chances of success this week. Back Medvedev to win outright.
TIP: DANIIL MEDVEDEV TO WIN
