World number 24 Diego Schwartzman found some searing form late last season but he will be eager to see the back of this one as he takes a five-match losing streak into the Paris Masters. The 30-year-old finished runner-up at the Buneos Aires Open and Rio Open this season to go without a title for only the third season in his last seven on tour and this looks a tough opener against serve-and-volley throwback Maxime Cressy to even begin trying to rectify that in this last chance saloon. World number 34 Cressy claimed the first ATP title of his career at the Hall of Fame Open on grass this summer but he has lost 10 of his last 16 matches since making the swap back to hardcourts. With neither player in great form, but Schwartzman by far the worse off in that department, back Cressy to earn at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance.
