World number 17 Diego Schwartzman will be well-backed at the Tal Aviv Open as a player of Jewish descent and he received a bye to the round of 16 as the third seed here. The 30-year-old could do with a strong campaign for his confidence as much as anything else after recently struggling on tour, losing both of his matches at the Davis Cup and Laver Cup in disappointing fashion. World number 58 Arthur Rinderknech came back from a set down to beat the returning Marius Copil on Tuesday to continue some decent form of his own, with a run to the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open last week ended by defending champion Hubert Hurkacz. Schwartzman will likely fins a little extra motivation this week and he could be backed to come through in straight sets at his best. Backing the Argentine to win outright seems a genuine risk at this stage, though, so taking him to earn at least a set is the suitably cautious pick.
