World number 15 Denis Shapovalov has been all over the place this season, with a searing run to the Australian Open semi-finals ended in five sets by eventual champion Rafael Nadal the highlight. The Canadian avenged that result in the round of 16 at the Italian Open, albeit against an injured Nadal, but a straight-sets loss to Casper Ruud and then a three-set defeat to Ilya Ivashka last week in Geneva contrast with the clear ability he possesses. 19-year-old Holger Rune has bags of potential too, especially on clay on which he recently won his first ATP title at the Munich Open. The Dane set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 40th last week and a run to the Lyon Open semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Cam Norrie in three sets suggests he can produce an upset here. Still, Shapovalov is unlikely to take a youngster challenging him lying down and this match looks a good candidate for four or five sets. Back both players to win at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance, with much of this match resting on what version of 23-year-old Shapovalov turns up.
