THE PREDICTION
Former world number 10 David Goffin looked assured in a straight-sets victory over Radu Albot on Tuesday in a match that was delayed overnight due to rain on Monday. The 31-year-old has spent much of the last two seasons struggling with form but he still managed to win the Montpellier Open in 2021 and more recently the Marrakech Open back in April. Goffin reached the quarter-finals here back in 2019 before defeat to eventual champion Novak Djokovic and with his confidence returning this season he could be something of a sleeper hit in his segment of the draw. A first meeting with 31st seed Sebastian Baez will be tricky, though, as the Argentine also came through his first round match in straight sets over Taro Daniel. The 21-year-old won his first ATP title this season at the Estoril Open on his favoured clay but there is clearly big potential in his game for all surfaces. Sets look likely for both players here but backing Goffin to win at least two as the more experienced on grass seems a sensible way to lean.
